What Tradecraft Academy collects, why, and how to get rid of it. Short version: not much, and none of it is sold.

We have no analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising, and no third-party trackers of any kind. We don’t sell or rent your data, and we don’t send you marketing email — in fact, we currently send no email at all.
Most of what you do here — your reading progress, drill scores, watchlists and your entire paper-trading account — never leaves your browser.
Tradecraft Academy operates this site. For any privacy question or request, email info@tradecraft.academy.
The operating legal entity and its registered address must be named here before launch, and a data-protection representative appointed if one is required in your jurisdiction.
You can read the guides without signing in. In that case we store two cookies:
| tc_lg | A signed list of which free guides you've opened, so we can apply the free-guide limit. Set by the server, not readable by scripts, expires after 180 days. |
|---|---|
| tc_lg_n | Just the number of guides you've read, so the page can show you how many are left. Expires after 180 days. |
Both are strictly necessary to run the free-access limit — they are not used to profile you, and they contain no identity. Our hosting provider also processes your IP address to serve the page, as any web server must.
Accounts are created through Google sign-in. We receive from Google, and store:
| Identity | Your name, email address, whether Google has verified that email, and your profile picture URL. |
|---|---|
| Google account id | The stable identifier Google uses for you, so we can recognise you next time. |
| Access tokens | The OAuth tokens Google issues so the sign-in works. We use them only to authenticate you. |
| Session records | For each sign-in: a session token, its expiry, and — this one is easy to miss — your IP address and browser user-agent string. |
| Account status | Your role (member / pro / admin), any Pro entitlement and its source, a practice 'trader rating', and whether the account is suspended. |
We use this to sign you in, keep you signed in, apply the right access level, and secure the service against abuse. The lawful basis, where that concept applies, is performance of our agreement with you and our legitimate interest in operating a secure service.
This is the bulk of your activity, and we want to be clear that we cannot see it. Stored in your browser’s local storage on your device only, never uploaded:
Because it lives on your device, clearing your browser data deletes it permanently — we hold no copy and cannot restore it. It also means this progress does not follow you to another device or browser.
When you rate a guide, answer a poll, or write in a feedback box, we store what you wrote, the rating or option you chose, the page you were on, and — if you were signed in — your user id. Feedback left while signed out is stored without any identifier.
Please don’t put personal or sensitive information in a free-text feedback box; it isn’t the right place for it. Only administrators can see feedback; it is never shown to other users.
Some coaching is generated by a third-party AI model. This feature is disabled by default and only operates when we switch it on. When it is on, and only for signed-in users, we send the model:
Your name, email address and user id are never sent to the model provider. The provider is one of Anthropic, OpenAI, Google or OpenRouter, depending on configuration, and your content is subject to their terms while they process it.
We keep our own record of these exchanges — the full prompt and the full response, including the thesis text you wrote — so we can check the coaching quality. We also record token counts, cost and latency for each call against your user id; that cost record contains no text from your prompt.
| Vercel | Hosts the site. Processes IP addresses and request logs as part of serving and protecting it. |
|---|---|
| Neon | Runs the database where account, feedback and coaching records are stored. |
| Handles sign-in when you choose it, under Google's own privacy policy. | |
| AI model provider | Receives coaching prompts only when the AI coach is enabled — see section 06. |
| Yahoo Finance | Supplies market data. Requests are for ticker symbols only and carry no information about you. |
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose data if we are legally required to, or to protect the service and its users from harm.
These providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on the providers’ own approved safeguards.
To be explicit, because these are the things people reasonably assume are happening:
Account data is kept while your account exists. Sessions expire after 30 days. Feedback and coaching records are currently kept indefinitely so we can improve the material.
We are being straight with you: automatic retention limits are not yet implemented. If a defined retention period matters to you, ask us and we will delete your records.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or delete your personal data, to object to processing, and to complain to your data-protection regulator.
Exercise any of them by emailing info@tradecraft.academy. We will respond within 30 days. Deletion is currently handled manually by us on request rather than through a button in the app — that is a gap we intend to close.
To delete the browser-side data described in section 04, clear this site’s data in your browser settings. That is immediate and irreversible.
This service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Sign-in cookies are HTTP-only, signed and sent over HTTPS. Data is stored with reputable providers. That said, no online service can promise perfect security, and we can’t either.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and make material changes apparent on the site. Our Terms of Service explain the rest of the arrangement — including that this is an educational service and not financial advice.
